Group Life Insurance is a small but necessary part of most employee benefit packages. The quoting and underwriting process can seem confusing, the carriers all have different ways of stating the same provisions, but deciding what's important in the group life contract for your organization is important. Employees may not care much about the coverage they have until an unfortunate death occurs for them or their family members, and then the spotlight is on the policy details.
Join the Cincinnati/Dayton chapter and Marty Hileman from The Standard Insurance Company for an in-depth look into Group Life policies, including how taxation works, whether executives can be classed out for highter amounts, and what Waiver of Premium and Guarantee Issue provisions are. This knowledge is critical to designing the right plan for your employees.
Marty Hileman has been in the employee benefits industry since 2001. He started his benefits career with MetLife serving Southwest Ohio as their small business group rep. At MetLife he worked with brokers and clients consulting them on ancillary benefits including life, disability and dental insurance.
In 2005 Marty purchased a small local employee benefits firm where he worked directly with clients from 2-500 employees. The company consulted employer groups on their benefit packages and served companies in the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana markets. Marty sold the company in 2013 to a larger regional firm.
In 2015 he joined The Standard Insurance Company. Marty’s responsibility is working with brokers and clients of all sizes in helping put together ancillary benefit plans which include life, disability, dental, vision and supplemental products. His territory includes Southwest Ohio and Eastern and Central Kentucky.
Marty is a 1998 graduate of Miami University and received his MBA in executive administration in 2006. He currently holds a Chartered Benefit Consultant (CBC) designation along with a Group Benefits Disability Specialist (GBDS) designation. Marty resides in Cincinnati with his wife and three children.
